April 30th, 2010 - 2:29 pm ICT by adminBy Anita Thomas
Violet returns from vacation and realizes she is ready to be a mother to Lucas after leaving him with his father a year ago. She petitions Pete (Tim Daly) for partial custody and the battle begins.
Flashbacks show the process Violet (Amy Brenneman) goes through in order to regain her sanity back. During therapy Violet learns that throughout her attack she put Lucas first, she was willing to forsake her own life to save her sons life. For the past year Violet has felt that she didn’t do enough to protect Lucas, when in reality she actually did everything possible. She has come to terms with this and is ready to face her fears and also face her peers.
During the custody hearings we learn of two abortions Violet had previous to the last pregnancy, this information was used against her to show she did not want children. Feeling like hop e is lost she phones her friend Naomi who is in London supporting her colleague at the Wellness Center while ill. During Naomi’s testimony supporting Violet Naomi comes to terms with the fact that her own daughter Mya is eight months pregnant and Naomi has yet to be involved. Sam speaks to Naomi and lets her know that it is never to late for a mother to get involved with their child. Not knowing where to start in rebuilding her own relationship with her daughter Mya, Sam suggests singing to the baby.
More revelations are revealed during the hearings and Violet at first cannot understand while her co-workers feel she is not ready to be a mother. The one person Violet thought she could rely on was not protecting her like she wanted; he forced her to see the truth. Cooper knows Violet better then anyone and he knows she needs to ease her way into motherhood; upset by his testimony puts strain on their friendship.
Sam confesses to Violet that he still loves Addison (Kate Walsh) and Violet tells Sam she is still in love with Pete. Cooper and Charlotte realize they still have strong feelings towards one another and go on a date. Pete and Addison understand they are willing to settle with each other as partners for the sake of Lucas, knowing both are in love with someone else.
