ere September 21, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The musical director of the Italian jail seems to enamored by the soprano voice of Amanda Knox and wants her to star in the Christmas show that will be put up at the prison during the festive season.

The 23 year old Knox is serving time in jail after being convicted and sentenced to 26 years of imprisonment. She was found to be guilty of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher back in 2007.

Knox is fond of music and had even appeared in the court room wearing a Beatles shirt once. She, apparently, entertains her fellow inmates at the prison by singing and playing the guitar for them.

The musical director at the jail said that he had heard her singing and had been moved by the quality of her voice ever since. He says that he pleaded with her to take part in the upcoming Christmas show which is held every year for the inmates of the prison.

The chaplain of the prison, Don Saulo Scarabattoli also endorsed his view saying that her vocal talent as well as her liking for music made her one of the first choices for the show. Amanda had written to her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, saying that it was music which sees her through as she continues to serve her sentence.

She was also seen clapping enthusiastically wearing her Beatles’ shirt which has become almost like a trademark for her, at the recently held string quartet performance for the inmates. She was seen seated in the front row cheering lustily.

Knox is scheduled to appear in the court in October in connection with a slander case filed by the Perugia police who she claimed had beaten her at that time. She is also likely to appeal her conviction in November as she claims that the trial was based on flawed DNA evidence.
