Aug 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A former model from the television game show ‘The Price is Right’ has filed a lawsuit claiming that the former host of the show, Bob Barker helped to cause her to be fired in 2006 after she announced that she was expecting a baby. The suit was filed in the LA County Superior Court on Friday, Aug 6, 2010.
According to the model she was “forced into an early pregnancy leave, and was not allowed to come back to work for almost a year after the child’s birth, and was fired abruptly.” She places the blame on Barker, since he completely changed his attitude towards her after she let him know she was pregnant.
Allegedly, Barker stated that her pregnancy made her “dangerous” and “a liability” and he told her that she should “go home and take car of your baby”. She was not allowed to work at all while she was expecting the baby, and was finally allowed to return to the show in 2008, but was very quickly fired, and told that the show was”going in a different direction.”
She is suing the show for over $25,000, saying that if they had allowed her to go back to work more quickly after giving birth, then she would have been allowed time to get to know the newer people working on the show, and thus would have been able to retain her job.
She is not the first woman who was expecting a child that says she was discriminated against by ‘Bob Barker’ and ‘The Price is Right’. Brandi Cochran also sued the show after suffering a miscarriage which she said was a result of stress and abuse by her co workers on the show.
