Aug 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Australian actress Portia de Rossi is all set to make her marriage to popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres all the more official as the “Arrested Development” star has filed a legal request to take up the name of her spouse. According to court documents that have come to light, the 37-year-old actress filed a petition at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday so that she can change her name to ‘Portia Lee James DeGeneres.’

A leading celebrity website has reported that the court documents were signed by Portia de Rossi in the month of March this year but the papers were finally filed in the court on August 6. The official court document has revealed, “Petitioner is taking the last name of her spouse.” However, this is not the first time that the “Ally McBeal” star has taken the decision to change her name as the actress is known to have undergone a name change from Amanda Lee Rogers to her present name at the age of 15.

In the meanwhile, Portia de Rossi’s decision to take the name of her spouse comes after two years of marriage to highly-regarded talk show host. Ellen DeGeneres and the “Arrested Development” star tied the knot on August 16, 2008 at their Beverly Hills home in a private ceremony during the period in which same-sex marriage license were being granted in the state of California. A law which was passed some time later banned marriages between the same sex, however, last Wednesday U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker delivered a ruling that deemed the ban as unconstitutional.
