Melbourne, Mar 14 (ANI): Australian actress Poppy Montgomery has been cast as JK Rowling in an upcoming television biography about the Harry Potter author.

The 35-year-old ‘Without A Trace’ star will play a young Rowling in ‘Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story’, which will be screened on the Lifetime channel in the United States later this year, reports The Herald Sun.

Instead of Portugal and Edinburgh, where Rowling spent a lot of her pre-Potter publication life, the biopic is currently being shot in the Canadian province of Victoria.

Montgomery was spotted in a Vancouver bookshop in a floral dress as she recreated Rowling’s first ever-public reading of her debut Potter novel.

Sydney-born Montgomery is best known for playing FBI agent Samantha Spade in crime drama ‘Without A Trace’.

She first came to prominence though in 2001, playing Marilyn Monroe in a CBS mini-series ‘Blonde’.

For the role she has been learning to speak in Rowling’s accent and will wear blue contact lenses.

When asked what she would do if she ever met Rowling, Montgomery told Access Hollywood: “I’d turn into a puddle of water!”

Unsurprisingly, Rowling has declined to give her blessing to the project.

“I can confirm that the biopic Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story is unofficial and not authorised. We can not comment further,” her publicist told Vancouver’s Times Colonist newspaper. (ANI)
