_46129437_-5According to the sources, Pope Benedict XVI will be heard singing and speaking in an album that is supposed to be released on the record label that had signed big names such as Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses.

The Pope is supposed to release Alma Mater, an album of Lauretan litanies and prayers with musical accompaniment, through Geffen Records. The record label said that the listeners will gradually be “shocked” on hearing the “incredible voice” of Pope Benedict XVI. The yet untitled album that features the Pope using as many as five different languages is slated to be released on November 30. According to the sources, the project surfaced when the label learned earlier this year that Pope Benedict XVI had been working on an album with the Choir of the Philharmonic Academy of Rome.

According to the sources, Colin Barlow, the president of Geffen UK said, “We traveled to Rome, heard some of the music and realized it was a beautiful piece of music and something that actually can be an incredible record for us to work on.” “It’s very much about delivering a really brilliant piece of music and making sure we treat it with the respect it deserves,” added Barlow.

Inside sources say that the album will feature eight tracks, one featuring Pope Benedict singing and the other seven will consist of his recitals and prayers accompanied with music. But surprisingly, Pope Benedict didn’t had to go to the studio for recording purposes. The Vatican reportedly supplied recordings of his vocals made at official services and also from the speeches that he had delivered during his foreign trips.

The album which is supposed to be launched on November 30 will be a definite treat for the listeners.
