Pop Sensation Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin And Other Celebrities Cheer For “DADT” Repeal

Dec 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Who’s who of entertainment industry have taken to their respective social networking site to cheer for “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” repeal. US Senate officially repealed the DADT policy that barred gays and lesbians to join US military. However, on Saturday, in the presence of speaker Nanci Pelosi, the policy was banned with a majority of 65-31 vote and now President Barack Obama would have to sign the repeal to execute it. Celebrities like Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Neil Patrick Harris and many renowned figures of the entertainment industry took to their social networking site to express their true feelings about the recent development.
Pop singer Lady Gaga, whose meat dress at MTV Video Music Awards created lot of controversies, took to her social networking site to express her happiness. The “Bad Romance” singer stated that it is an emotional moment for the country and she was not able to hold back her tears after hearing the news. The singer stated that she is proud of her country as after 17 years Senate could put an end to DADT policy. She wrote that it is the triumph of equality. Ellen DeGeneres also thanked everyone in her social networking site for bringing the nation one step closer towards equality.
Neil Patrick Harris, the actor of “How I Met Your Mother” also wrote that he is proud of Congress for making the right decision as people can now serve their job with integrity. “Drop It on Me” singer Ricky Martin wrote in the homepage of his social networking site that he is elated to hear about DADT repeal and he feels it is one step closer to equality. Newly Wed Singer Katy Perry also took to Twitter to state that she supports all the troops of her country and happy to hear the news.
