Polish church calls magic-laden Harry Potter books ‘unacceptable’
April 15th, 2011 - 6:43 pm ICT by ANINew York, April 15 (ANI): Harry Potter books have fallen foul of yet another Catholic Church.
A Catholic diocese in Poland has warned that the best-selling books are unacceptable because they encourage “instructions to practise magic”.
The letter from Gliwice diocese also warned that in the best-selling books the “dangerous world of magic is presented as good”, and preached about the dangers of Halloween and the ancient and pagan Polish traditions associated with St Andrew’s day when people try to predict the future.
“Teachers and parents should teach children to go the Lord Jesus if they have problems, and not seek help and answers from fortune telling,” the Telegraph quoted the letter as writing.
Local education authorities said that they had passed on the letter to teachers but saw no reason to act. (ANI)
