Polenskis rape victim wants the case droppedJanuary 13th, 2009 - 2:33 pm ICT by ANI
London, January 13 (ANI): The woman raped by fugitive film director Roman Polanski over three decades ago is demanding that the case be closed.
Samantha Geimer, 45, was just 13 when she became Polanskis victim.
The filmmaker has already admitted having unlawful sex with her at the time.
However, Samantha has now filed a legal declaration claiming that she is being harmed by renewed focus on what happened to her long ago.
She was of the opinion prosecutors were revealing sexually explicit details to distract attention from allegations of wrongdoing against them, and the judge who initially heard the case.
She even said that she was ready to appear in court to have the case dismissed.
A new team of lawyers representing Polanski, who fled the US in 1978 to avoid serving a prison sentence after pleading guilty to the unlawful sex charge, also filed a formal request for the dismissal of the criminal case.
They claimed to have found new evidence revealing “judicial and prosecutorial misconduct”.
The matter will be heard in court later this month.
Polanski has lived in France, where he has citizenship, for more than 30 years and cannot be extradited back to America. (ANI)
