Polanski’s ‘The Ghost Writer’ wins best film at European Film Awards
December 5th, 2010 - 2:48 pm ICT by ANILondon, Dec 5 (ANI): Roman Polanski’s film ‘The Ghost Writer’ bagged the best film gong at the European Film Awards.
The political thriller also won in five other key European Film Academy categories, including best director and best actor for Ewan McGregor, reports the Daily Express.
Sylvie Testud from France won best actress in ‘Lourdes’.
At a ceremony in the Estonian capital Tallinn, the academy also bestowed a lifetime honour on Swiss actor Bruno Ganz.
Composer and musician Gabriel Yared was honoured for writing scores to films such as ‘The English Patient’ and ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’.
The academy has granted the European film prizes since 1988 to celebrate the continent’s film industry as a counterweight to the Oscars. (ANI)
