Polanski makes first public appearance as free man
July 19th, 2010 - 5:02 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 19 (ANI): Roman Polanski attended a music festival in Switzerland last weekend to support his singer wife Emmanuelle Seigner. This was the filmmaker’s first public appearance after he regained his freedom on July 12.
Polanski’s house arrest was lifted after Swiss officials turned down American prosecutors’ requests to extradite him on a 33-year-old child-sex charge.
He had been under house arrest at a luxury chalet in Gstaad since he was seized in Zurich last September.
The Chinatown director refused to give any interviews as he attended the Montreux Jazz Festival to watch his musician wife perform, reports The Daily Express.
However, a TV news interview with Polanski was later aired in Switzerland, in which he expressed his happiness at being free. (ANI)
