PML-N seeks early restoration of judges in return of its support to indemnify NROJune 2nd, 2008 - 12:05 pm ICT by admin
Islamabad , June 2 (ANI): The PML-N has reportedly assured the PPP of its support to indemnify the controversial NRO, but in return sought early reinstatement of the pre-Nov 3 judiciary.
The party also made it clear to the PPP that it would not accept any link between the constitutional package and the issue of the judges.
After the countrys Law Minister Farooq Naek presented him a draft of the constitutional package, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif stated in no unclear terms that he would continue pressing for the restoration of the deposed judges through a National Assembly resolution.
Sharif said his party would not only extend its moral support to the June 10 long march of the lawyers fraternity but would also be an enthusiastic part of the major event, reported The News.
The party told Naek that it would consider the constitutional package but without making it conditional to the judges restoration. Naek was also told to honour the PPPs commitment made on March 9 at Bhurban, Murree.
After his meeting with Naek, Nawaz Sharif sat for sometime with his top leaders and decided to form a committee comprising partys senior leaders, most of whom were present there, and renowned lawyers including Fakharuddin G Ibrahim to consider the Naek-Package clause by clause.
The partys committee will meet in a few days time in Islamabad and continue its deliberations for some days till the work was complete. On the recommendations of the same committee, the PML-N would give the Zardari House its comprehensive response to its constitutional package. (ANI)
