July 17, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): PIX, one of the premium Indian Hollywood channels, is going to air the Bengali movie Shadows Of Time on July 17, 2010. Directed by Academy Award winning German director Florian Gallenberger, the movie was released in 2005 in Germany and India.
The movie stars Tannishtha Chatterjee, Irrfan Khan, Prashant Narayanan and Soumitra Chatterjee in key roles. Shadows Of Time has memorable storyline with an adventurous music, which keeps the film apart from the other cross over films. Tillothama Shome, Sikandar Agarwal, Biplab Dasgupta, Tumpa Das, Satya Banerjee, Sobha Sen and others are playing the supporting roles.
The sensational performances of the Indian actors distinguish the film from the others in this genre. Gallenberger himself penned this romantic story, which spans about six decades. The story of the film starts in the pre-independent ear in the 1940s. The authenticity of the movie is maintained by keeping the language of the film totally Bengali.
The Shadows Of Time deals with a Calcutta carpet factory, where kids are exploited ruthlessly. The factory owner buys the children from their poor parents in return of a few bucks. It is story of two childhood lovebirds in the carpet factory and how they find their way to each other when they grow up and how misunderstandings take them away again.
PIX also organized a day out full of fun for the children associated with the NGO named “Save The Children’ on July 14. The children were taken to “Science city’ in Kolkata.
The movie has earned critical acclaims and got international awards. At the Mons International Festival of Love Films, Shadows of Time won the Best European Film award and also got two Bavarian Film awards.
In 2005, the movie was screened at the fifth International Film Festival of Marrakech. It also got nomination for the esteemed Golden Star Award for Best Film.
