Pix Focuses On Blockbusters
August 3rd, 2010 - 2:36 pm ICT by Sampurn WireAugust 3, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The movie channel Pix was launched four years back in 2006. Back then, the channel primarily focused on movies from the Sony and MGM libraries.
The channel presented old classic movies, which set them apart from rivals like Star Movies and HBO. However, the channel’s executives have planned to change it a bit. From now on, Pix would also feature both blockbusters and current films.
Pix has decided to broadcast newer movies like The Hurt Locker, which has won the Best Picture Oscar this year. The other film that they have decided to show is District 9 that is directed by Neill Blomkamp.
Sunder Aaron, the business head, says that the company aims to have 25 percent share in the genre and they still retain their status as the premium Hollywood movie channel. The programming approach has only evolved.
The latest aim is to include at least five premieres every month. One out of these films would be a blockbuster.
