Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett starring in the movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, a man who is born old and ages backward.
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is a 1922 short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is currently being adapted for a 2008 film of the same name directed by David Fincher.
“I was born under unusual circumstances”, is the statement which perfectly summarizes the imaginative story that is the basis for the movie. Benjamin Button is born as an old man in appearance, then ages in reverse until the day he dies as a newborn infant. Paramount Pictures hired David Fincher to reunite with his old buddy, Brad Pitt for this movie.
Anyway the movie has a few changes from the original story, The directer said in his version Benjamin was born a few decades later than 1860 and the setting seems to have been changed original Baltimore to the South. Another aspect is that instead of being born a fully grown old man, Benjamin is born as tiny baby with old aged face, though it looks strange and creepy, but somehow it is more believable than being born a fully-grown adult from a pregnant mother.
However, Pitt will not be playing at every point in Button’s life. There will be other actors will take on the role at different moments in order to drive home the discrepancies in looks as the character reverse-ages.
The film is highlighted as having a tragic love story at its center, as Pitt’s Button gets younger while ‘Hildegarde Moncrief’ played by Cate Blanchett, as his wife, grows older. Fitzgerald’s original wasn’t nearly so nice.
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is coming to theaters in December 19.
