pinkDec 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After the British royals got a taste of mass protests by university students recently, another well-known name has emerged in the tumult. Pink Floyd guitarist/singer David Gilmour’s son Charlie Gilmour was taken into custody over the weekend with charges of criminal damage and violent disorder levied against him. As the protests over the hiked university fees sparked on the streets of London, the adopted son of the legendary guitarist was seen swinging from the Union Jack flag of the country at Cenotaph.

According to sources, following Charlie Gilmour’s arrest on Sunday, the London police officials are in the process of questioning him on a suspicion of theft. Shocking images that have surfaced show the 21-year-old attempting to set fire to a pile of newspaper outside the Supreme Court, however, later a police official intervenes and puts off the fire. In another picture, the University of Cambridge student was seen throwing and catching a rock during the protest over the increase in the university fees. One of the factor that has gained immense attention is the fact while indulging in the protests, Charlie Gilmour was seen wearing latex gloves which has triggered rumors that the 21-year-old history student wanted to hide his fingerprints.

Despite the fact that the rather violent behavior displayed by his son has seized the limelight, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour said that he did not have any comments over his adopted son’s actions. However, Charlie Gilmour later issued an apology in which he said that he ‘felt nothing but shame’ for his behavior while adding that ‘caught up in the spirit of the moment.’
