piersmorganx-wide-communityJan 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The CNN debut of Piers Morgan generated huge interest among the viewers. The debut ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’ show featured legendary talk show host Oprah Winfrey which could have boosted the interest. It was reported that almost 2.1 million viewers watched the show. That was the triple of the number of viewers on ‘Larry King Live’ and it was ranked second only to the Hannity of Fox News. Piers Morgan used to be a former British newspaper editor and also worked as a judge on a reality TV show. Last year he was picked as the successor to Larry King. Of late CNN is suffering from a dip in viewer ship owing to steep performance from rival channels.

However, the success of the debut show of Piers Morgan was doubted by some media veterans who said it was like two well known media personalities interacting with each other which was not the purpose of the show. A critic went on as far as to say that his debut was rather unremarkable and another said it is too early to predict his success rate with the viewers of the show. Some of those who viewed his debut show said hopefully he will show off more spark in his later shows with Ricky Gervais.

Piers Morgan is aware of the fact that after the initial promising debut his performance will be judged on the ratings his show gets after months. In a interview given to a media entity last week he said “If I do, I’m a genius. If I don’t, I’m a half-wit. There is no middle ground”.
