New York, Nov 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) CNN talk show icon Piers Morgan has stepped down as a judge of the show America’s Got Talent. The British journalist said he took the decision because he wants to concentrate on his own show on CNN.

“Piers Morgan Tonight” was CNN’s replacement for the hugely successful show “Larry King Live.” The 46-year-old has been a judge on America’s Got Talent show since 2006. He explained that since he picked up his appointment with CNN at the beginning of the year, working as a judge on the talent hunt show has become very difficult.

During the last season of America’s Got Talent show, he sat on the panel of judges with Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne. The last season of the show wrapped last September and by the announcement he will not be on the show next season.

With the 2012 US election coming up, Morgan expects his schedule to be busy. He plans to concentrate his resources and time on the polls which is expected to be one of the hotly contested in the history of the country.

CNN has traditionally played crucial part in covering US elections. President Barack Obama faces stiff competition from the Republicans.
