Washington, Jan 10 (ANI): Phillip Noyce will direct Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming period drama Mary Queen of Scots.
The film is based on the life of a Roman Catholic woman named Mary who, in 1542, became queen of Scotland at just nine months old.
She later became a rival to the throne of England and was imprisoned for many years on charges of attempting to assassinate Elizabeth I.
She was eventually beheaded in 1587 as per Elizabeths order, reports Variety.
James McGovern has penned the script, and the producers of the film are Melanie Johansson and Alexandra Milchan.
The film, which is scheduled to start shooting this April in London and Scotland, will be financed by Capitol Films and Relativity. (ANI)
