Sacramento, May 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An appeals court in California on Monday upheld the murder conviction of Phil Spector. Spector was convicted for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. This is the third time that the trial is taking place. A 2007 trial ended in mistrial when the jury deadlocked on their decision. The jury however returned a verdict of guilty when the trial was held again in 2009.

Spector’s lawyers argued during the appeal’s trial that testimonies from five women should not have been entered because of the perception they had about Spector. The women testified during the trial that they were threatened with gun by Spector some years back. All those incidents happened years before Clarkson was found dead in the home of Spector.

The verdict was contained in an 81-page document. Part of the document upheld the view of the prosecution that the women should be considered as worthy witnesses. They claimed that it was vital that the women gave their testimony so the earlier ruling by the court should stand.

Clarkson is best known for her role in the 1985 movie titled “Barbarian Queen.” Year later, Clarkson worked as a hostess in a nightclub where Spector met her.
