philAlaska, Feb 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Discovery Channel has reported that the man who had been the star of the show “Deadliest Catch”, Phil Harris, has passed away. The news was reported by the Discovery Channel on Tuesday. According to the reports given out by his family, Phil Harris had suffered a major stroke on Jan 29, following which he had been admitted to a hospital in Anchorage, in order to undergo surgery. He suffered the stroke while the fishing vessel that he was the captain of, the Cornelia Marie, was docked in Alaska, at the St. Port Island. Phil Harris is survived by his two sons, Josh and Jake Harris.

The death of Phil Harris came as rather a shock for the family and the network too, considering that recent reports suggested that his condition seemed to be improving. In fact, in a statement that had been released in the website of the ship that he manned, it had been said that Phil Harris was making rapid progress, and was even speaking to his friends and family. The family had admitted that they were encouraged to see his progress, but could not be very sure of the end.

Josh and Jake Harris expressed their deep grief at this ineffable loss that the family has suffered at the death of Phil Harris. In a statement that they released, the sons commented that they were immensely sad to bid goodbye to their father, someone who had always been an inspiration to them. They further commented that Phil Harris had “always been a fighter,” someone who “never backed down.”

My God, I only just found about the tragic passing of Phil Harris. It seemed to me that he was such a great character, although, like a lot of others, I only knew him from “Deadliest Catch”. My heart goes out to his family and to the members of his crew on “Cornelia Marie” who are, no doubt, also deeply saddened by his passing. My deepest condolences from his many followers in Australia where he was extremely popular. May you Rest In Peace. You will be sadly missed.
