Phil Harris - captain of ‘Cornelia Marie’ featured on Deadliest Catch has died

phil Alaska, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The captain of ‘Cornelia Marie’ fishing boat – Phil Harris has died. His fishing boat Cornelia Marie gets featured on Discovery’s ‘Deadliest Catch’. Harris has been quite a regular on the Discovery show ‘Deadliest Catch’. This is a show that showcases the perils and the drama, involved in the Alaskan crab fishing.

Phil Harris was just 53 years old. He died in Alaska, from a stroke. While the Cornelia Marie was docked at the port in St. Paul Island, Alaska, then Phil Harris suffered a huge stroke on the 29th of January. He was flown to Anchorage for emergency surgery.

His sons Josh Harris and Jake Harris posted a statement on the Cornelia Marie website, and spoke in glorious terms about their brave father. They said that they are extremely sad about his demise. They said that he was always a fighter, and he bravely fought till the very end.

The Discovery network also mourned his loss, and said in a statement that, “Discovery mourns the loss of dear friend and colleague Captain Phil Harris. He was more than someone on our television screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart. We share our tremendous sadness over this loss with the millions of viewers who followed Phil’s every move. We send our thoughts and prayers to Phil’s sons Josh and Jake and the Cornelia Marie crew.”
