London, June 12 (ANI): British singer Pete Doherty was sent packing after he tried to enter America.
Doherty, 31, who has a string of drug convictions, had been wanting to crack the States, and despite its strict ban on drug offenders he flew into New York for a gig with John Lennon’s son Sean.
The singer was hoping customs officials would turn a blind eye to his wild past, but he was put back on a flight to London just hours later.
“He thought he could get away with it. He was wrong,” the Sun quoted one of his friends as saying.
Sean, 34, spoke of his sadness at Doherty not joining him for June 10 show.
“He stressed it wasn’t Pete’s fault,” a fan added. (ANI)
