London, July 18 (ANI): Soft drink giant Pepsi says that it does not have any idea as to from where the “terrifying” footage showing late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s hair accidentally catching fire, while filming for an advertisement in 1984, has surfaced.
According to reports, the accident had taken place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles when the entertainer was singing his hit song ‘Billie Jean for a Pepsi Cola commercial, and it had left him with serious burns.
“We don’t know how the footage became available,” the BBC quoted Nicole Bradley, a spokeswoman for Pepsi-Cola North America, as saying in a statement.
“This was an unfortunate accident that occurred more than 25 years ago,” she added.
It is believed that the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker had become addicted to painkillers following the same accident.
“It was a terrifying event that we’ll never forget,” said Bradley, adding that Pepsi had been “deeply saddened” by his death last month.
“We were grateful for Michael’s recovery and for the chance to continue working with him on a number of successful projects,” she added. (ANI)
