London, Aug 14 (ANI): A pensioner from Berkshire has bought his first car - 50 years after he purchased it the first time.

John Nagle spent 4,500 pounds on the 74-year-old Morris Minor - a car he originally bought back in 1958 for 30 pounds.

The 67-year-old retired shopkeeper couldn”t believe his luck when he found his antique vehicle, since only a few dozen remain in existence.

Nagle is now restoring the green 1934 Morris Minor two seater so that he can get it back on the road.

The car, which he has named Emmeline, still had its old log book bearing his handwriting from 50 years ago.

Nagle bought Emmeline when he was a 17-year-old learner driver and sold it five years later but never found another car quite the same.

After joining the Morris Minor Owners Club, he managed to trace the owner, who was living in Basildon, Essex.

“I went to visit Emmeline’’s new owner and all the time I was there I could not help thinking that it would be splendid to bring her home,” the Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

“I said to him that if he ever wanted to sell the car would he please call me first.

“To my surprise he was not averse to the idea and we casually discussed the value of the vehicle.

“I was delighted to have tracked her down. It will be a year or so before I manage to make her roadworthy again - she’’s going to need some TLC,” he added.

Nagle’’s wife Josephine, 65, said she is not expecting to see much of her husband over the next few months as he sets about restoring his pride and joy.

“John bought me a Morris Minor for my birthday a few years ago and we joined the Morris owners club,” she said.

“That set him thinking ”I wonder if Emmeline ever survived”.

“We”ve now both got old Morris Minors - his is from 1934 and mine is from 1932 - it’’s incredible that they are still running after all these years,” she added. (ANI)
