Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell Defends Slot Machines

Ed RendellJan 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Investigative television program “60 Minutes” was aired on CBS last night and the loyal fans of the series watched the show with anticipation. However, last night’s episode gained media attention as the Governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell appeared on the show and he berated reporter Lesley Stahl after the latter questioned him about his view on slot machine. The Democratic Party member also called the reporter and the other people who do not understand the importance of gambling as “idiots”!

The audience watched Lesley Stahl questioning the Governor about his stance in the increasing rate of gambling and slot machines in the state and the country. Ed Rendell immediately reacted to the question and spoke in defense of slot machines. When the reporter said that people lose money to help the state generate its revenue, the Governor interrupted him and said that the reporter does not understand the present situation of gambling. Ed Rendell said that people would lose the money in some other way if they do not gamble. The media outlets are of the opinion that his comment clearly shows that the Governor does not object gambling.

The Pennsylvania Governor also stated that people who do not understand the situation that the gamblers would eventually lose money, are “simpletons” and “idiots”. The “60 Minutes” interview of the Governor became a rage after it was aired on CBS last night. A reputed media source reported that in Comedy Central’s website, the Governor has been compared to “Incredible Hulk” and his picture has been turned green to highlight the anger. Ed Rendell’s representative Gary Tuma was unavailable for any comment.
