Pee-wee HermanNov 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Paul Reubens had been through a hard time in the last two decades. Although his cult character Pee-wee Herman has been a popular one, the actor himself could not be as popular or revered, due to the string of scandals and arrests.

However, there seems to be a new hope at the end of the tunnel and Paul Reubens who has played Pee-wee Herman for thirty years and almost went out of news in the last two decades, will be back on Broadway. “The Pee-wee Herman Show” is about to be back at the Stephen Sondheim Theater in Broadway on Nov. 11. Paul Reubens, who played the comic character was almost indispensable from his own identity. The character of Pee-wee Herman is that of a boy inside a man’s body. No one could have ever thought of portraying this character as beautifully and innocently as Paul Reubens. However, his personal life was not that innocent, as he was once arrested for indecent exposure in a Florida movie theater in 1991. He was taken into custody again when vintage erotica was seized in his home in 2002, followed by a third arrest in 2004, for possessing obscene materials. These incidents not only spoiled his own reputation but also took a toll on the innocent character that he portrayed. At one point, he even thought of leaving his profession and lead a life, away from the media glare.

Paul Reubens, who is 58-years-old now has acted in the “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” in 1985 and “Big Top Pee-wee” in 1988 and hosted the five seasons of “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” on CBS. The show ended in 1991, with his scandal. He is a bit scared about how would he be accepted after so many years. Yet, he is now hopeful about his grand comeback.
