Pedro Almodovar honoured with Harvard degreeJune 8th, 2009 - 6:28 pm ICT by ANI
London, June 8 (ANI): Pedro Almodovar has been honoured with a doctorate from Harvard University for his contribution to cinema.
The 57-year-old donned the traditional black cap and red gown while being presented with the arts degree at the Massachusetts school’s commencement ceremony on June 4.
Almodovar, who can be argued as the most successful and internationally known Spanish filmmaker of his generation, expressed his excitement, especially when he never went beyond high school.
“I didn’t go to university. I’m a self-taught person, yet my work is exhaustively studied here. I was thrilled to receive the news, but I’m really enjoying it now,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
Almodovar further joked about using the experience as inspiration for his next movie, adding, “If I stay two more months I’ll make a film.” (ANI)
