Washington, Feb 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former US President Bill Clinton nearly lost his presidency when his administration was rocked by the Monica Lewinsky scandal. When the story of the affair first broke, Clinton denied it but eventually admitted to it.

Analysts say the affair did not hurt most Americans as much as the lie did. Close aides during the Clinton administration have revealed that they initially advised the President to come clean when the news broke.

Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) will air documentary about the affair. The two-part documentary will be aired in the United States and the United Kingdom next week. The four-hour show will share more details about the affair. Senior aides in the administration would be interviewed as the professional and the private life of the former President is scrutinized.

Clinton’s former adviser, Dick Morris, in an interview with The Telegraph said that, “Ever since I got to the White House I have had to shut down my body.”

He revealed that the president commissioned him to undertake a poll about the subject which revealed that Americans were not angry at the affair but they were angry at the lie that the president initially told them.

Clinton was one of the most loved presidents in the history of the United States but the Lewinsky scandal in 1998 nearly resulted in his impeachment.
