Pazhassi Raja is now tax free
October 15th, 2009 - 2:05 pm ICT by Sampurn Wire ( 3 comments )Pazhassi Raja’s filmmakers had asked the government for a hike in the ticket prices. Even though the government didn’t pay any attention to their demand at first, they have now decided to give a 50 percent tax exemption on the ticket prices. Movie lovers are overjoyed with the news as they have to pay lesser money now to watch the film. The movie is scheduled to release on November 16.

What is the ultimate proof that Pazhassi Raja is a commercial movie, to make big bucks by calling it historical, and not a true historical one? All important names in South Indian films have been added, from Tamil and Telugu. The heroine and support hero are both Tamils. Is it impossible to find a Malayali woman to play the role of a Malayali in a supposedly historical movie about Kerala? The heroine in her interview revealed that she speaks very little Malayalam, and what she speaks is with a heavy Tamil accent! She is resident in the US. Nice compliment to Malayali women. A Tamil woman resident in US plays a Malayali in a supposed historical movie about Kerala. The supposed king is dressed as a cross between a Nambudiri Brahmin priest and a Tamil Pandyan king, plays the Veena like Tamil Brahmins, rides horses and uses Roman armour, all non-existent in Kerala among Malayalis. Nambudiri Brahmin priests don’t go to war.Illaya Raja, is a great Tamil music composer. Is there no Malayali music composer worth his salt to do a Malayalam movie? Illaya Raja, is not a king, in spite of his name. So it is with Pazhassi Raja. At one stage he used to be known as Pazhashi Raj, but they have changed it to Pazhassi Raja.
Propaganda, propaganda, propanda. But gullible Indians buy into such stuff gladly. What to do. :((

Read the comment by Critical Malayali.
Going by his/her/its logic, Amitabh Bachchan should have stayed behind in Uttar Pradesh, Sridevi in Tamil Nadu, MGR on the tea estates of Kandy…..Ben-Hur should have featured someone from Jerusalem…not Charlton Heston.
That’s pure son-of-the-soil baloney.
Why shouldn’t a historical movie not feature stars from other regions if they are capable.
The only thing that should matter is if the chosen ones can do justice to their roles.
