paula-deen-240 Los Angeles, Dec 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The former housekeeper of TV celebrity chef, Paula Deen has been sentenced to 18 months behind bars for stealing jewels worth more than $100,000 from her house.

During the hearing, Mary Alice White pleaded guilty to the charges that were brought against her. She admitted that she carried out the theft over a nine month period that she remained a worker at Deen’s house.

According to the prosecutors’ accounts, Mary was arrested on the 5th day of May following her attempt to steal a pair of earring worth about $18,000 that belonged to Deen. Deen described Mary as the “most feared and destroying kind of thief you may ever run up against” during the trial.

She accused the housekeeper of playing caring but was actually evil. She said that Mary used the love and kindness of her(Deen’s) family against them.

She said that, “Mary was a master at making you think she cares about you. … She used our love and kindness against us.”

The judge fairly agreed with those descriptions of Mary and based on her own plea, she was subsequently sentenced to 18 months and given six years probation.

Mary has similar conviction dating back in 1993.
