Paul McCartney sings ‘Michelle’ for Michelle Obama

Paul McCartney Washington DC, Jun 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Beatles star Paul McCartney especially sang the song ‘Michelle’ for the US First Lady at the White House.

Paul was being honored at the White House with the ‘Gershwin Prize for Popular Song’ and he performed also at the function. The award ceremony was held at the East Room of the White House on Wednesday night.

The US President said that Paul McCartney ‘helped to lay the soundtrack for an entire generation’.

Paul also seemed to be in a humorous mood, and when he was serenading the First Lady with the words – ‘I love you, I love you’ then he also cracked a joke that, he might be the very ‘first guy ever to be punched out by a president’.

When he was given the award, then he said that he was honored and it was a pleasure to play in the White House, and nothing could be more special than a performance in the White House.

The concert was well attended by musicians as well as the Obama family. Paul’s latest girlfriend Nancy Shevell was also present at the concert.

Amongst the other attendees and other performers at the concert were Stevie Wonder, the Jonas Brothers, Elvis Costello, White Stripes singer and guitarist Jack White, and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.
