London, May 10 (ANI): Sir Paul McCartney has reportedly put an engagement ring on his girlfriend Nancy Shevell’s finger but is keeping the news under wraps fearing his former wife Heather Mills may ruin the happy moment.

According to a friend of the former Beatle, each time something related to the couple found its way into media, Heather, 41, attempted to twist the limelight in her direction.

Meanwhile, the 66-year-old singer has apparently told pals that his 47-year-old love reminded him of his first wife Linda, who passed away more than a decade ago.

“Paul just loves being in love. He feels that he functions better and feels more complete as a human being. It’s as though being in love is a natural state for him,” the Daily Express quoted a friend as saying.

The friend continued: “Nancy is said to be keen to embrace everything that Paul adores. She doesn’t need the glamour that Heather craved.

“She is the opposite of Heather, who tried to change so many aspects of his personality and lifestyle. Nancy has worked out very quickly that the key to maintaining a love affair with Paul is to Let It Be.

“Best of all for Paul, she’s no gold digger. She has money in her own right, so he feels very comfortable. The wedding will be sooner rather than later - at Paul’s age you don’t hang about. I can’t think of a soul who’d deny him happiness.”

But a spokesman for Sir Paul said: “There is no truth in it whatsoever. They have not become engaged in any shape or form. It is utter nonsense.” (ANI)
