Michael Jackson Los Angeles, Oct 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Jackson’s new single ‘This is it’ was released yesterday amid loads of excitement and hoopla. But today the so-called new single is now shrouded in controversy. Michael Jackson’s estate has faced fresh controversy after it acknowledged that the star’s posthumous single ‘This Is It’ was in fact co-written by the ‘My Way’ lyricist Paul Anka.

And it was also revealed that Anka, a singer of the1950s and 60s who also wrote the lyrics to Frank Sinatra’s signature song, announced that Jackson’s record company has agreed to pay him 50 per cent of all royalties from the late star’s This Is It song sales.

Anka said he had recognized the music he wrote after hearing the so-called new song from Michael Jackson ‘This Is It’.

“They realized it’s a mistake,” said Anka. “They realized it’s my song, they realized it’s my production of his vocal in my studio, and I’m getting 50 percent, actually, of the whole project, which is fair.”

Rob Stringer, chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group, a part of Sony Music, which reportedly has dozens of unreleased Jackson songs in its custody, said he was unaware of the similarity of the ‘This is it’ song to the Safire single until Michael Jackson numerous fans discussed it online over the weekend. It became a major discussion topic on all the major forums and blogs.

This discussion was a trending topic on the social networking and micro-blogging site Twitter as well.
