pattonThe latest news to emerge from the “Battlestar Galactica” camp is that the funny guy Patton Oswalt is gearing up the join the team of the sci-fi adaptation. Oswalt is all set to join the cast of the upcoming Syfy venture that is a prequel to the original “Galactica” series, titled “Caprica”. About his role in the series, it is said to be of a recurring nature.

Seems like Oswalt (who is very popularly known as being the voice of Remy in the movie “Ratatouille”) is exploring newer options with this planned foray in to the sci-fi genre. Does it mean that his fans can assume now, that the talented comedian has taken a break from his comic capers for sometime. Well, there is no fear of that, as Oswalt still clings on to his roots.

In “Caprica,” he essays the character of Baxter Sarno, a humorous and funny talk show host who lives on the planet Caprica. During the run of the series, Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcomsom) is touted to appear on Baxter’s show and speak about their daughter as well as commendable breakthrough that Graystone has had.

For now, there is no information as to the length of the role being stretched in the series, but it is known that Oswalt will be appearing in more than one episode at least. The story of “Caprica” takes places 58 years in advance of the plot of “Battlestar Galactica” and traces the lives of the members of the Graystone and the Adama families.
