Pattinson defends Stewart over rape comments
June 24th, 2010 - 3:07 pm ICT by IANSLos Angeles, June 24 (IANS) “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson has defended his co-star and girlfriend Kristen Stewart for her “rape” comments blaming Internet journalists for blowing her statement out of proportion.
Stewart was recently excoriated for an interview with a magazine where she likened her encounters with paparazzi to “being raped”. However, she apologised after her comments caused outrage among fans and rape victims’ advocacy organisations.
“None of those associations came out and gave a statement (criticizing Kristen) without being called upon by the media first,” usmagazine.com quoted Pattinson as saying.
“That whole system of Internet journalists, where no one is called to account, is almost entirely about hate. All these people get away with doing it because they have no responsibility to anyone. There are so many little nerds behind their computers, on their little blogs,” he added.
