Patrick StewartLondon, United Kingdom, June 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Patrick Stewart is going to be known, from now on, as Sir Patrick Stewart.

He has been knighted on Wednesday, by Queen Elizabeth, the British monarch. The 69-year-old actor is joining the ranks of many of his heroes, men he had looked up to as a child and hero-worshiped.

After being knighted, the actor admitted that he had never expected to be hailed in the same rank as those of his heroes, joining the ranks of other knighted theatricians like Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir Alec Guinness and others. After the knighting ceremony, Sir Patrick Stewart went on to speak on his varied interests, and also on how he actually came into theater.

Sir Patrick Stewart went on to say that he had been lured into the world of the stage by his English teacher, to whom he paid a huge tribute after the knighthood investiture ceremony. He said that he owed everything to the man, who actually opened up his mind eyes to the enormous possibilities that the stage proposed.

He also went on to say that he had always looked up to the Knights of the stage, and he feels that being with them during his career is one of the best things that has happened to him in the profession.

The Queen herself admitted that she is a great fan of the actor, whose repertoire include such films as “Star Trek”, but most of all, a varied number of stage plays, many of them Shakespearean.

Moreover, he has also acted in a number of television shows in his acting career that spans almost 50 years.
