‘Patiala House’ Music Is Not Different But Entertaining

Anvita Dutt Guptan has written the lyrics of the songs and they have been crooned by the singers like Vishal Dadlani, Hans Raj Hans, Richa Sharma, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Shankar, Hard Kaur, Earl, Master Saleem, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Alyssa Mendonsa and Suraj Jagan.
You will not find something very different in the movie’s music but it will definitely entertain the listeners. The signature style of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is reflected in most of the songs. The music album of Patiala House has total 12 songs, which includes the remixes.
The first song ‘Laung da lashkara’ of the album is sung by Hard Kaur, Mahalaxmi Iyer and pop singer Jassi, who has returned to playback after a long gap. The song will give the feel of Punjabi energy and flavour. There will be also some rap lines in this song.
A remix version in the album changes the mood of the album. Shafqat Amanat Ali has crooned the number ‘Kya main jagoon’, which has a long prelude before the actual vocals start. Here music becomes secondary and music has been kept secondary but it is a very beautiful number. This track also has an unplugged version and a regular remix.
The next track ‘’Rola pe gaya’ fails to make a mark despite having lots of singers behind the mic. Singers like Master Saleem, Hard Kaur, Mahalaxmi, Earl and Shankar have crooned for the track. After entertaining with some initial lines, it fails to attract interest of the listeners with its weak lyrics. It has a remix with nothing great to offer than the original number.
However, listeners can expect some respite with the next track ‘Aadat hai voh’, which is sung by Vishal Dadlani. It raises tempo with strumming of guitar.
The film has only one love song ‘Baby when you talk to me’, which has been sung by Alyssa Mendonsa and Suraj Jagan. This foot-tapping number has mixed Hindi and English lyrics, which is hummable and engaging. It also has a remixed version.
There is a qawali track ‘Tumba Tumba’ by Hans Raj Hans. It is more like a situational number. The last number is a Sufi track ‘Aval Allah’, which has been crooned by Richa Sharma.
As a whole, the music will entertain most of the listeners.
