July 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The internationally acclaimed choir Voices of Baha’i was in a unique 19-day choral tour in India recently and they were joined by two Park Ridge singers named Lorraine and Alan Manifold.

The Voices of Baha’i included 130 auditioned singers from more than 25 nations. Several well-known Indian singers and musicians also joined the choir to develop a wonderful blend of Indian and Western classical music.

The two Park Ridge singers are active members of the Baha’i Faith and they are regular singers in the Baha’i House of Worship choir in Wilmette. These two singers had also performed in the 4th Choral Festival from May 27–30.

Lorraine, who is completing her Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy, also teaches singing and piano at her studio in Park Ridge.

Tom Price, the American composer and organizer of the tour, said, “The Voices of Baha’i is primarily a Baha’i choir. It was founded in 1992 and since then it has performed in more than 35 countries all over the globe. The spiritual teachings of the Founder Baha’u'llah are reflected in the lyrics of the songs. According to him, there is one God and one religion and humanity is one family”.

The programme included many pieces of Western as well as Persian spiritual and popular music.
