Paris Hilton Rubs Against Controversy With Beer Ad

Rio de Janeiro, Feb 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Paris Hilton has once again climbed to the topmost ranks of controversy. However, this time the credit does not go to her fully, as a major part of it is being shouldered by the advertisement she stars in. An advertisement for a particular brand of beer that she stars in is being considered to be detrimental to the status of women, according to a government department in Brazil. Surprisingly, the content of the commercial is not really sexually explicit, at least, it does not contain any graphic sexual matter. However, it is being considered to be in bad taste because it, according to the government officials, depicts the model turned actress in a sensual manner.
The commercial shows Paris Hilton in a room, wearing a short black dress, posing and rubbing a can of the beer on her body. Through the window in the room, a bunch of goggle-eyed audience is seen observing her. According to the protesting government officials, the advertisement is controversial in the sense that it shows Paris Hilton in a rather sensuous avatar, something which has been deemed as unacceptable. According to them, the commercial shows women in a demeaning manner, and more particularly, blond women.
The government officials have claimed that the beer companies should not be portraying women in a sensuous light, that is, not as a sexual object. According to the statistics provided by the government, Brazilian advertisements of beer companies do feature women in bikinis, but they are mostly set in the backdrop of the beach, something, the officials claim, makes the portrayal more relevant. The advertisement is being recommended to be taken off air.
