pa2reviewOct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The sequel to the sleeper hit ‘Paranormal Activity’ named ‘Paranormal Activity 2′ has hit the theaters and the response is mixed. It does not offer anything new or original compared to the first movie but does deliver in building suspense and terror in some of the key scenes. The first film did quite well and gained mainly from word of mouth publicity. The sequel has enough terror and scary elements to keep the viewers hooked to their seats. This movie has been directed by Tod Williams. The camera work is the USP of the film and some scenes are shot in the surveillance cameras as well.

The plot of the second film revolves round a small family staying in Carlsbad, California. The kid of the family named Hunter and the German shepherd dog accompanying him are of much interest. The unknown demon causing havoc in the house targets the innocent child for some reason and the viewers get a feeling that it is nothing but raw pure evil. The baby and the dog can sense the threat before the adults but their comprehension in no way reduces the feeling of terror. The film just like the first one does not use the common elements widely used in typical ghost or horror flicks. On the contrary the movements of the camera makes the viewers aware of the danger looming unseen and it makes watching the movie all the more interesting.

At the box office the film may do well and its main rival will be ‘Jackass 3D’ which belongs to a totally different genre. The first film got many people interested and those viewers are likely to make a beeline at the theaters to see the sequel anyways.
