Pandit Ravi Shankar launches his music label

Feb 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Legendry Sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar has touched a new horizon as he has launched a music label of his own- “East meets West music’. With this he joins the league of other musicians like A R Rahman (KM Music), Shubha Mudgal and many others.
Pandit Ravi Shankar’s label will be bit different than others as it is said to be carrying the rare archives featuring thousand of live performances, interviews, film footage etc. These features are said to be included as sitar maestro wants to people to have peek into what has inspired and molded him in his long and glittering years on stage. According to the statement given to media, “With the creation of EMW Music, Ravi Shankar bridges any divide between his recorded music and his audience.”
This music label will enter the market on 7th April 2010 on Pandit Ravi Shankar’s 90th birthday. The series will compile decade by decade performances and rare live performance chosen by Ravi Shankar himself. Not just this, the label is determined to promote new talented and promising artists, meaningful projects and collaborations.
EMW music is also determined to release the documentary named “Raga’ based on Pt. Ravi Shankar’s life and performances, it was produced by George Harrison and its soundtrack will also be available.
