New Delhi, Apr 24 (ANI): Minister of State for Defence Dr. MM Pallam Raju today urged National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets to get more involved in social activities. Addressing the cadets here, Dr. Raju asked the NCC instructors and the officers to encourage school and college students to participate in social welfare activities atleast once during their stint in the NCC.
Commending the NCC for the turnout of the cadets and a cultural programme presented on the occasion, Dr. Raju said he was “amazed by the range and diversity of talent” on view at the camp.
The Minister, himself an Electronics and Communications Engineer and an IT entrepreneur, underlined the need for the youth, especially those hailing from remote and inaccessible villages, to adapt to new age technology tools such as the computer and the Internet, which he termed would be their “window of opportunity to the world.”
Later, Dr. Raju presented prizes for extra-curricular activities to the cadets. About 850 cadets, including more than 600 from Jammu and Kashmir, are participating in the 12-day camp.
For a large number of cadets from remote and inaccessible areas of Baramulla, Poonch and Bhaderwah districts, it is their first opportunity to travel outside the state and interact with children from the rest of the country. (ANI)
