Jan 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Padma Lakshmi and her husband is having a legal battle over the custody of their 11 month old daughter, Krishna Thea Lakshmi. According to the sources, Padma Lakshmi’s husband, Adam Dell, who also happens to be the brother of the founder of Dell Computers, Michael Dell, filed a suit at the Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The couple aims to come into a consensus for their daughter’s custody arrangement, after her first birthday on February 20. He tried the same on personal terms several times before, but to no avail. Therefore, they had to resort to legal means as Adam Dell wants to play a more integral and active role in the upbringing of their daughter. His lawyer, Bill Zabel confirmed that Padma Lakshmi’s busy schedule and professional commitments does not allow her to devote full time to the baby. However, according to the lawyer, Adam Dell does not want to take the baby away from her, but only wants to increase his role as a father. Right now, he is allowed to visit the child only nine days in a month and seven hours in a week. Most of the time, Padma Lakshmi’s rigorous traveling schedule, does not even permit that. Adam Dell wants to assert more right as a father, and wants more time to spend with his daughter, under legal security.

Sources have also reported that, Padma Lakshmi has tried to make her current beau, Ted Forstmann, take the role of a father figure for her child. This was quite unacceptable to the business tycoon dad. The super model’s defender has however said that Padma Lakshmi always encourages her ex-husband to visit her child, and intensify his role as a father. Her spokesperson, Christina Papadopoulos has said that she wants the best for their child in privacy and away from media glare. But Adam Dell said that he was compelled to make the court intervene in the matter, and is sorry, if that is attracting any media speculation.
