London, September 20 (ANI): In his memoirs, English rocker Ozzy Osbourne has described the success of the reality TV show about his family as “terrifying”.

The 60-year-old’s memoir ‘I Am Ozzy’ describes his early success with rockers Black Sabbath, his marriage to Sharon and his battle against drink and drugs.

In an extract from it, he said that appearing in the MTV series The Osbournes was like being “strapped to a rocket and being blasted through the stratosphere at warp factor ten”.

Ozzy who grew up in Birmingham, and worked in a factory before finding fame in the heavy metal band.

After he was kicked out of Black Sabbath in 1979, he launched a solo career and moved to the US.

The Osbournes also made celebrities out of his wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly, who featured prominently in the show filmed at the family’s Los Angeles home.

The show did not feature Ozzy’s elder daughter Aimee.

Writing in the book, Osbourne has even talked about the infamous incident when he bit the head off a live bat during a concert thinking that it was a rubber toy.

He said: “Immediately, though, something felt wrong. Very wrong. For a start, my mouth was instantly full of this warm, gloopy liquid, with the worst aftertaste you could ever imagine. I could feel it staining my teeth and running down my chin. Then the head in my mouth twitched.”

‘I Am Ozzy’ will be published on October 1. (ANI)
