Melbourne, October 8 (ANI): An Australian television network has apologised for a black-face skit on one of its shows after the act drew serious criticism.
The Nine Network broadcast the show’s Red Faces segment that showed a man with white face, “comically” impersonating Michael Jackson, while faces of the back-up dancers were painted black.
Celebrity judge Harry Connick Jr slammed the act, giving it a score of zero.
“I had no idea I was going to be a part of it. I have absolutely no hard feelings and I’m not even upset, but I felt I had a responsibility to respond,” News.com.au quoted him as telling Fairfax Radio Network.
A spokesman for the Nine Network issued an apology, saying: “It was never intended to offend and we regret any offence the Red Faces act caused.” (ANI)
