Otis Williams’s ‘The Temptation’ To Be Held In Detriot

otisOct 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS), Otis Williams is an American singer and songwriter who was one of the founders of the Motown vocal band ‘The Temptations’. The fans of the legendary band have something to look forward to, as they would be performing in Detriot to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Motown Records. Motown Records comprises of a group of record labels initially based in Detroit, that has played a significant role in transforming popular music and produced music in different genres such as hip-hop, rock and many more.

Williams now remains the only founding member of the 50 year old band and continues to perform as the only surviving original band member. Earlier, the band comprised of four other band members namely David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, and Paul William but the line-up remained constant only till 1968. However, over its journey of so many years the band witnessed enormous success with a number of chart topping hits such as ” My Girl”, “The Way You Do The Things You do”, “Just My Imagination”, “Ain’t To Proud To Beg” that have been immensely popular all these years. Especially the song “My girl”, which became the bands signature track and shot the band to instant fame.

The 67 year old singer had been in news around September this year when it was reported that he owed back taxes to the IRS to the tune of $278,000. However, the singer is still going strong with music consuming all his time and plans of retirement are hardly on his mind. He is planning to release his latest album titled “The Temptations: Still Here” which is scheduled to release some time around next year.
