john3Los Angeles, Mar 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Oscars this year gave a fitting tribute to the late legendary filmmaker John Hughes. John Hughes, known and revered for having presented the world with some of the most beautiful movies ever made, the list of which included Trains And Automobiles, Pretty In Pink and Lost In New York among others. The great filmmaker passed away last year, on Aug 6, at his home in New York City, after having suffered a massive heart attack. Observers feel that paying a tribute to John Hughes was a great idea of the presenters of the 82nd Academy Awards.

Despite having enjoyed enormous success at the box office and with critics too, John Hughes did not manage to win a single Oscar till his death. In fact, the only award that he won was at the ShoWest Convention, in which he was presented with the Producer of the Year Award, way back in 1991. Besides having made some wonderfully entertaining films in the comedy genre, John Hughes is also responsible for bringing great actors like Anthony Michael Hall and Molly Ringwald in to the scene.

Therefore, it was indeed a fitting tribute to the great director when it was presented by Molly Ringwald herself, one of his greatest finds, along with Matthew Broderick. The presentation of the tribute started off with a screening of a montage of some of the most well known films directed by John Hughes. The screening was succeeded by a coming together of the most notable of the actors discovered by John Hughes, namely, Anthony Michael Hall, Jon Cryer, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Macaulay Culkin and of course Molly Ringwald.
