Oscars 2010: Kathryn Bigelow wins the Best Director Award

Beverly Hills, Mar 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kathryn Bigelow won the Best Director Award at the Oscars. She is the very first woman to win this award. She created history by winning this award. The presenter Barbara opened the envelope where the winner’s name was etched, and said ‘The time has come’ and then said that Kathryn had won the award. Then a shell-shocked Kathryn came onto the stage to collect it.
She described it ‘as a moment of a lifetime’. She thanked the all the nominees, which also included her ex-husband James Cameron who is the director of Avatar. She said that she was honored to be in the company of such great and powerful directors, and then she thanked all the members of the Academy. She spoke effusively about the screenplay writer, as his words and vision brought the magic to the movie. She also thanked the people of Jordan, who showed true hospitality to them, while they were filming the movie there. She dedicated the award to the military people, who risk their live in protecting the citizens.
The other nominees in this category were James Cameron for Avatar, Quentin Tarantino for the ‘Inglourious Basterds’, Lee Daniels for Precious and Jason Reitman for ‘Up in the Air’.
