Oscar Winning Actress Patricia Neal Dies Aged 84

nealKnoxville, Aug 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Academy-award winning actress Patricia Neal passed away on Sunday after a long battle with lung cancer. The highly-acclaimed actress breathed her last in the presence of her family yesterday at her home in the town of Edgartown, Massachusetts on Martha’s Vineyard, sources have revealed. The noted Hollywood diva who had been bestowed with an Oscar for her outstanding performance in the 1963 drama “Hud,” was 84 years old at the time of her demise.

A statement that was issued by Patricia Neal’s family read that the “The Breaking Point” star confronted the final illness which ultimately took her life, with ‘indomitable grace, humor’ as well as a huge amount of ’self-described stubbornness.’ The actress who is best known for her impressive work in a series of films such as “The Fountainhead,” The Face in the Crowd,” “The Subject was Roses,” also came to recognized for the stunning comeback that she had made in the world of entertainment after suffering a series of strokes at the age of 39. The unrelenting spirit with which the actress fought the ailments is still considered to be a highly inspiring story of stroke rehabilitation. Not only did Patricia Neal return on screen, she also went on to register one Oscar nomination as well as three Emmy nominations.

Despite the fact that Patricia Neal was able to garner wide accolades for her acting skills, her personal life was marred by a number of tragedies. The actress who married writer Roald Dahl, was struck with tragedy when he infant son was brain-damaged after an accident in 1960 and two years later, the couple lost their daughter to measles.
